Don’t ask me why Perth council thought to have a winter festival in the middle of November, when it’s not Christmas, it’s not Advent and it’s not even Winter yet… but the fireworks were well pretty!

A Tree
Time for something a little different, and back in the original spirit of this blog as a source for mobile photos, as well.
I spotted this tree in the middle of Craigie in Perth – perhaps an unexpected location for so elegant a life-form, and testament to the selectivity of photography. Camera never lies? If I’d framed this any lower, there would have been a fence and bunch of buildings and take-away shops in the way.
Some experimental post-processing using the GIMP with the `Beautify’ plugin, amongst other things.
A Lunchtime Stroll
I spent a lunchtime recently with a friend from the Photo Society, strolling in leisurely fashion around the South Inch in Perth, mostly admiring the shapes and colours of trees. Well, why not… especially in Autumn!
How I Voted…
Happily.
It’s the orthogonal thoughts that caught my eye, so to speak.
The trees still stand. I mean, the town still stands – apart from one tent in the very middle of the pedestrian area, I saw no more campaigning.
Yes & No placards reside side by side, as do their representatives, chatting together outside the polling station.
The Church is open for business, contemplation, prayer, stillness.
Now to sit back and wait patiently. Quid sit futurum cras, fuge quaerere.
Now, who’s going to clean up all the litter?
Then and Now, Night and Day
Some time around March 2007 I acquired an ancient camera, an Ensign Carbine No.3, and took a photo of Perth railway station by night, returning home to develop the film myself. It’s the only photo I remember taking with that camera, but I like it for the Ilford Pan-F tonality and glow from the lens-haze.
Today, on my lunchtime stroll around town, I took a quick photo on the mobile, looking back along the same railway tracks to the station from the other side.
St John’s Kirk, Perth
I still remember the place for being very unwelcoming last September – however at least the building has a rather photogenic profile from the outside.
