Larger Map Only catching up on photos taken at the end of April… Lady Mary’s Walk runs West from Crieff along the side of the River Earn, mostly on the flat until one reaches the foot of Laggan Hill after a mile or so, where it forms a circular route back to MacRosty Park. At […]
That was 2017-06-20, that was. A beautiful blue sky with white fluffy wispy cirrus cloud catching the setting sun… …followed by a noctilucent cloud display around 1am: NLCs are the highest-flying clouds, occurring at altitudes up to 80km where the next highest type (cumulonimbus) only reaches 12km and most are lower still. Most typically they […]
A short series of photos made while walking the Doglet at some length yesterday evening. With the scenery of Strathearn along the end of the street, it’s kinda nice living around here. And the clouds merited a bit of appreciation too.
Evening was interrupted yesterday by a glimpse of sunlight on surrounding neighbours’ houses, resulting in a rapid trot with coat, feet, dog and camera to the end of the street for a view of a gloriously colourful sunset over Strathearn.
Just a few photos of the landscape of Strathearn to the north of Auchterarder – testing a new ultra-wide lens during the evening’s dog-walk.
Just a couple of photos from a stroll beside a burn down the bottom end of town today at lunchtime – not great light, in fact it was beginning to rain. But if looking up doesn’t work, look down and take abstract photos of trees reflected in the burn instead…
Further experiments making timelapse videos – this time the sunset looking across Strathearn to Crieff – from my favourite spot for hunting aurora. The second has Ursa Major emerging, one star at a time, over the course of 50 minutes around midnight. Both were taken using the Olympus Pen-F with its built-in intervalometer – the […]
Arguably an even more impressive display of the Aurora this evening than the one over New Year. I took the Pen-F out for its first attempt at night photography. What a way to test its capabilities!
The view driving south-west along the A9 just above Forteviot is quite a treat – an open expanse of Strathearn with the river and road flowing through the landscape, bounded on the south by the Ochil hills. On a snowy winter’s day with passing sunlight, even better! Herewith, a few photos taken in the course […]
…it does it properly. A small handful of photos taken late one evening when all around was quiet (apart from some lunatic burning-out the clutch in their Ford to get up the road) and covered in white (and slush) and no light but streetlights…
