A handful of photos from a stroll up Birnam Hill near Dunkeld. It makes a great weekend afternoon stroll – past a wonderful little waterfall with views looking out over the Highland Boundary Fault.
Just a small gentle cascade - but some of the purest water I've tasted. Especially lovely chilled by winter.
A few outcrops of slate from previous quarrying activity on Birnam Hill. The Highland Boundary Fault runs a hundred yards to the right of this shot, emerging in the middle distance and turning right at the foothills of the distant hills.
Alternatively, "chunks in gravy", since that's rather what the rocky background looks like to me.
